Rich heritage of Anglican Church Music

Music is an important element of the Historic Liturgy. The rich heritage of Anglican Church Music is experienced every Sunday at Saint Joseph Parish through the classic hymns of the Hymnal 1940. Sung minor propers are taken from the English Gradual. Healey Willan’s beautiful Missa de Sancta Maria Magdalena, composed in 1928 and named after the Church of Saint Mary Magdalene in Toronto where Dr. WIllan was organist for many years, is sung at Saint Joseph Parish on all of the feast days and most Sundays during the Trinity Season. During the Penitential Seasons of Advent and Lent, John Merbecke’s Mass of 1550, is sung.
